I Can’t Believe It!!!
I can’t believe it! Good news! No make that GREAT NEWS!
I’ve been accepted to the Treads.com/DFT Multisport Team! I can’t believe it! I am soooo over the top excited!!!!! Me! Little ol me being accepted to team! And being able to race for a team! I really can’t believe it!
You may wonder how this came about (or maybe not-but I’ll tell ya anyway)….and long story short (ish)….I was intersted in finding Squadra gear to race in this year (as I will no longer be wearing my old race wear).
I met a woman at the Computrainer classes I go to who is on Treads.com/DFT’s Elite Cycling Team (these ladies kick some serious butt). I asked her where she got her gear and she told me to visit DFT’s website.
I took a stroll on the web and visited DFT’s site. As I read about them and looked through the site I realized that they partnered with an agency named The Gathering Place. This agency’s mission statement is:
The Gathering Place exists to support women and their children who are experiencing homelessness or poverty by providing a safe daytime refuge and resources for self-sufficiency.
This spoke to me! This is an agency I believe in strongly and use frequently in my job. The services The Gathering Place provides are incredible. And any Team that partners with The Gathering Place is a Team I wanted to be a part of!!!
So, I quickly emailed Megan, the director of DFT and asked if I could apply for the Multisport team. She responded that they had filled all the spots for the team. Well me being me….I emailed back and let her know how much I would like to be a part of a Team that partners with The Gathering Place and how passionate I am about working with the homeless population.
Megan asked me to send her my bio, race results and 2010 races schedule. I sent all this to her and waited…..and….after reviewing everything, she got back to me and….said she would love to have me on the Team!!!! Yipeee!!! I’m so excited!
My team uniform is in transit and it looks like the Multisport team will all be getting together the first week of April. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having yet some more wonderful women to train with. Plus, I am looking forward to supporting The Gathering Place in any way possible!

I feel so blessed to be a part of this team and to have this opportunity! DFT is also a club, so if you are male or female and looking for a club to join….this might just be the group for you! Check ‘em out and come along for the ride!

Hey girl!!! This is awesome! Congratulations! Beyond awesome. If I am not mistaken, some of us women did some yard-stuff there years ago. The Gathering Home is a really good place… teaching lots of job-skills to women. And teaching kids too. Awesome, girl! Congrats! Good things, this year!
